We’re 10!

Today marks the 10th Anniversary of DearMrGable.com!

The website launched on July 1, 2009, hand-coded by me after reading Website Building for Dummies. It was kind of on a whim. I had loved and admired Clark Gable for years, sure. I was involved in classic film fan groups on the internet and it often turned out that I was one of the only ones who had read up on Clark and seen all his films. I quickly discovered that while many classic film stars had active websites devoted to them, Clark really didn’t, which shocked me. I was surprised the domain name was available, snapped it up and here we are, many reincarnations later.

Over the years, I’ve added pages for every one of Clark’s 66 credited roles, added radio shows, typed up over 200 articles, done extensive news clipping research on Clark’s wives, debunked common rumors, added a Facebook and Instagram page, visited Clark’s hometown of Cadiz, attended various Gone with the Wind events, followed in Clark’s footsteps around Los Angeles, and so many other things.

I want to say that although I may not always have time to reply to every comment, I read them! And I thank every one of you for your support over this past decade!

THANK YOU!

And I am not done yet!

This week, our final movie of the week is the movie that started my (and I imagine a lot of others’) love of Clark Gable–Gone with the Wind. Post on it later in the week, meanwhile follow us on Instagram and Facebook!

I have been a fan of yours and cannot find the words to describe how your creation of Dear Mr. Gable has added to my escape therapy. When life overwhelms I turn to classic movies and my all time favorite Mr. Gable. To receive my email reminders from you makes me stop what I am doing, prepare an adult beverage and linger on your site. I love the format, the tidbits, the rewrites of magazine articles and above all your devotion to Mr. Gable. Thank you for the many therapeutic escapes!

I can’t thank you enough for all the wonderful work you’ve done to help us fans enjoy and learn more about Clark Gable’s life and career!!! I think the comment above from Susan Flanagan sums it up beautifully!!!

    Congratulations and well done!

Very much appreciate your dedication, knowledge, research, and GOOD WRITING.

It’s so unusual and refreshing to find a site full of interesting facts thats well written and well curated.

Yep, I did indeed fall in love with Clark at age 13 after having seen GWTW at the local theater. The movie led to a life-long admiration of Gable but also a deep appreciation of Hollywood movies of the 1930’s.

I also love Duesenbergs because of Mr. Gable. I have followed the journey of his famous (and abandoned after Carol died) self-designed custom Duesenberg convertible that last was offered at auction in 2012. Do you and your followers know that Gable’s famous, stunning black Jaguar was recently found, and remains, just as it was since he last drove it, in a basement garage under the Indianapolis Motor Speedway?! With an online search, one can see photos of this beauty and read the interesting story of the car.

    I digress.

You are very much appreciated! Thanks for the history, gossip, and fun!

    Cheers!
