    Hello,

I was browsing the website and tried to log into the Gable Gallery. I forgot my password, tried to log in again, and got a message that I’m banned from the website. I’m not sure what I did wrong 🙁
Is there any way I can reset my password??

    Thanks in advance

  • DMGAdmin

    Hi,

The gallery software is very old and randomly bans people for no reason. Clear your cookies and go back in and should work.

    Sorry about that.

    Hi,

I love this website. I do a classic Hollywood podcast and would love to talk about Clark Gable. I’m a huge fan as are my listeners. It would be a thrill for me!!

How can I get the app you had with Clark’s face. Got a new phone and it didn’t make it over. Would love that short cut back. Thanks 😉

    Greetings,
Is there any information that Mr. Gable presented Carole Lombard, for her personal protection, a Colt 25 calibre “Pocket Vest” auto?
    Thank you

I am looking for photographs of Clark Gable with his silver he owns (silverware, teapots, platters, candlesticks). I am working on a documentary that includes Porter Smith, a silversmith who lived and worked in L.A. from the 1930s to the 1970s. Clark Gable and Joan Crawford were two of his biggest clients. Thank you for any guidance or assistance you can give!!
    Kind regards,
    Rosey

I have a Clark Gable autograph for sale. I saw him sign the back of a business card of a company my mother worked for. I was 13.

Signed at Kings Arms Restaurant in North Hollywood, on March 6, 1957.

    Any interest?

I was just reading your write-up about the estate items of Carole Lombard. My family has owned her bedroom suite since her estate was auctioned off…whenever that was. Anyway, I have that bedroom suite that was appraised for $1600 and would love to be able to find pictures of her in it or with it. It was custom made and is still very beautiful although some pieces were lost over the years. Could you direct me as to where I might find additional photos? Thank you!

    Hi ~

Your website is great! What is your recommendation for a definitive Gable biography?
Have YOU considered writing it? I’d buy it! 😀

    Thanks ~

    Aw, thank you!

Lyn Tornabene’s “Long Live the King” is really the best one, because when she wrote it in the 1970’s so many people that knew Clark were still alive and she interviewed them. Since it is so old though it is missing things like the whole Loretta Young situation, as that story came out later. “Clark Gable” by Warren Harris isn’t bad although I have personally found some inaccuracies in it.

Her bedroom suite that was in the Encino ranch house? I don’t know that I have ever seen any pictures of her in her bedroom there. Her and Clark had a rule with the press that there were to be no inside pictures taken of their home. I have one picture of her bed and night stand that was in a magazine.

I had the priveledge of being gifted with a trip to Africa to see the filming of Mogambo. Frank Sinatra gave me his seat. Grace’s mother sat there in the flight over and I sat on her lap. Grace was providing the gift AND her mother was chaperone. Sinatra arrived much later during filming. Grace was very private about her charity and she was my sponsor at Ellis Island. I was a WWII orphan who came here alone without a sponsor. I rode with Clark in the Jeep across Africa.

I may have a piano that belonged to Carole. I am looking for information that would confirm or disprove that. It came from Fort Wayne Indiana and had 5 or 6 different colors of paint and texture on it. I suspect that it was a studio piano that was given to Carole but that is purely speculation on my part. Some of the colors on it were white, green, and reflective gold with a texture under the gold. Any help in finding answers about this piece would be greatly appreciated. Oh the piano is a Lester baby grand. About 1935.

Thank you very, very much for building this wonderful website for Clark. I am a huge Gable fan come from China, and, I’m so gald that Clark is still very popular in China, Gone with the wind maybe is the most famous hollywood classic film in China. A lot of Chinese young girls adore Gable as Rhett Butler, and I’m one of them. But it’s so sad that, there is so little of Clark’s biography translate in Chinese(I had to use the translate APP to finish Long Live The King😂), so that the Gable fans in China couldn’t know Clark well except that he was Rhett andhe was called King of hollywood..Clark was so much more than Rhett! To me, he was a man with great courage and kindness. He even more thoughtful after Carole’s death. He’s a real gentleman and a lovable King .

I have a photo of my grandfather who drove Clark Gable to the premier of GWW. He was with Ford Motor Company and I believe they were introducing the new Lincoln Zepher?
Would you like me to send a photo?

  • Debby

I recently discovered Clark’s work and therefor this site. I love both his movies and this site. Keep up the good work.

  • Khandi

I can’t help but wonder why you have no mention of two excellent books on Clark Gable’s life by Chrystopher Spicer. His extensive biography of Gable was the penultimate biography to date, the follow up book, Gable in Pictures had numerous never before seen photos and its historical value is unprecedented.

  • KoniginElle

I’d like to know if there’s truth to this about Clark Gable’s opinion. I would appreciate your reply admin. Thanks!

“I read that after the movie premiere, a reporter asked Vivien and Clark if they thought Scarlett and Rhett ever got together. Vivien said no, but Scarlett probably became a much better woman. Clark, on the other hand, said that he thought they did because Scarlett was in Rhett’s blood.”

Last Saturday, an Austrian magazine ran an actor´s memories of Clark Gable coming to Austria for a vacation in the 50s. Not very long but quite interesting – do you want me to send it to you and/or translate it? Please contact me..

I am working on a new book on Judy Garland, and there is a photo I have of Judy and Clark Gable sitting at a table in around 1937. She is wearing an orange blouse and Gable a checkered sportscoat. Do you know any more about this picture. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you. LAWRENCE SCHULMAN

  • DMGAdmin

    Hi!
I know the picture you are speaking of. It was taken in the MGM commissary. Judy is wearing the charm bracelet that Clark gave her as a present after she sang “Dear Mr. Gable (You Made Me Love You)” for the first time. It would have been in 1937.
