New Content Galore and I’m Going Hollywood!
October is here and for me that means that I am heading off to Hollywoodland! I’ve planned this trip for a long time and I am very excited about all it will bring to the site. I will be tracing Clark’s footsteps all over Los Angeles and will be back bursting with new information, pictures and more, I hope! You can follow my travels beginning October 5 on the site Facebook page.
In preparing for the trip, I wanted to clean off my desk so for the past month I have uploaded over 150 pictures in the gallery (log in and check out “Last Uploads”) and just today I have added the following articles:
1933: Clark Reaches His Goal–Clark tells how he learned to do “gentlemanly” things like ride a horse, play golf and tennis, and hunt.
1933: Gable! The Movies Saved Him!–Clark talks about his humble beginnings.
1934: Success Hasn’t Turned His Head–Clark discusses his recent trip to South America and how fame hasn’t gotten to him.
1934: Movie Acting is the Easiest Job in the World–Clark talks about how actors have nothing to complain about and how lucky he is.
1935: Clark Gable’s Rules for Living–Clark tells what guides him through life and what his plans are for the future.
1935: Why Gable Has Stayed on Top–Explaining Clark’s popularity.
1936: Love, Fame and the Clark Gables–Article putting a rather nauseating romantic spin on Clark and Ria’s separation.
1936: Pursuit of the Hollywood He-Man–Article about how Carole is pursuing Clark now that he’s single. Also about Ronald Colman, Gary Cooper and Robert Taylor.
1937: She Gets Away with Murder–That Lombard girl getting away with whatever she wants.
1938: Can the Gable-Lombard Love Story Have a Happy Ending?–What’s in store for Clark and Carole and the age old question of will Ria ever divorce Clark?
1939: Best Wishes, Carole Lombard Gable–A limerick of sorts wishes the new Mrs. Gable luck
1940: The Clark Gable I Photograph–A studio photographer tells why Clark is his favorite subject.
1941: Gable on the Spot: Things We Like About Clark–Article describing what is honorable about Clark.
1941: Hollywood’s No. 1 Menace–Clark tells (again) why success hasn’t gone to his head, Hedy Lamarr and King Vidor talk about working with Clark on Comrade X.
1941: What I Know About Clark Gable–Rosalind Russell candidly discusses Clark, her recent co-star in They Met in Bombay.
1944: Dear Captain Gable–A reporter talks about how Clark is since he enlisted.
1949: A Queen for the King?–Speculation on who the next Mrs. Gable will be, describes his relationships with Virginia Grey and others.
1950: The Fourth Mrs. Gable–Short article detailing Sylvia Ashley’s past.
1960: Clark Gable is Dead–A Last Intimate Look–A short article from LIFE magazine announcing Clark’s death and funeral.
Special thanks to Ginger for her donations and to Katherine for helping me!
Happy reading! Me and my carpal-tunnel-ed hands are off to pack!

It’s interesting how Adela wrote about the Ria/Clark split in Feb. 1936 and stated that Ria left Clark. Then in June 1936 Adela wrote about the Carole/Clark romance and stated that Carole was chasing Clark. Adela always protected Clark. She wrote a number of articles on him over the years and appeared in several documentaries about him.
They were life-long friends and, at one point, Adela was rumored to have had Clark’s baby. When she was asked about this she replied something to the effect of, “what woman wouldn’t want to have Clark Gable’s baby?”
