Clark Gable, who dashes off to the Columbia River on “solitary” fishing trips, is reported interested in more than fish that way. He’s supposed to have escorted a lovely Oregonian around the local town, our spies report.

He just always just cuts such a solitary figure in the photos I see of him after 1942 and before he meets Sylvia. No wonder he rushed into that disastrous marriage with her. His loneliness must have run deep 🙁
