Happy 118th Birthday to Clark Gable!

William Clark Gable was born to William and Adeline Gable in Cadiz, Ohio on February 1, 1901, tipping the scales at 10 and a half pounds!

We have celebrated Clark’s birthday around here for ten years!

As a bit of a present this year, I have a new page that has practically been 10 years in the making. Over the years I have kept a notebook where I scribbled down Clark’s timeline so I could keep it straight; I’ve always meant to put it up on the website as a source of reference. Well, it’s no wonder it took me 10 years to do it as it was quite the task! I am reminded of the tale of Gone with the Wind producer David O. Selznick and newly appointed director Victor Fleming acting out GWTW for seven days for newly hired screenwriter Ben Hecht, who hadn’t read the novel. Apparently fueled by a diet of only bananas and peanuts, Selznick and Fleming acted out the film for 18 hours a day for seven days until a blood vessel rather gorily burst in Fleming’s eye and Selznick collapsed into a sleep so deep the other two feared it was a coma. I ate more than bananas and peanuts and my blood vessels are in tact but I think I am in need of a coma-like sleep. This page is still a work in progress (especially his early years) but I am happy to say that it is quite detailed and researched. Check it out and celebrate Clark Gable today!
