I am not surprised that Garson and Gable didn't get along. He didn't like Garbo, either, and she and Greer had similar dispositions.

I love book reviews so this was fun. Btw I always wonder why people have such a strong need to point out false teeth, I mean a lot of people back then had bad teeth, but I guess people always like to hear that the stars were not perfect or something.

Are you familiar with the story of the painting? The version I have heard most often is that during their marriage, Kay had a painting of herself commissioned to hang over the fireplace in their desert home. Problem was that it was difficult to tell whether it was Kay or Carole,or that was the take some folks had. On top of that, some liked to gossip that Kay ordered it that way! And more? Joan Crawford had a 50s movie with this storyline in it, about the film's lead. What do you think?

Neil Hamilton had a long, if sporadic, career. He was a leading man in silents, appearing in several of D.W. Griffith's 1920s films, made the transition to talkies with little difficulty and appeared in plenty of good films (including Constance Bennett's "What Price Hollywood"). After some time out of the limelight, he resurfaced as a character actor; baby boomers probably remember him as Commissioner Gordon on the Adam West "Batman" TV series. He was never a top-tier star, but was popular in his heyday.

I have really enjoyed seeing the pictures of the beautiful home that Clark Gable and Carole Lombard shared. I wish we were able to see the inside of the home since it has been redone. I couldn't imagine living in that home knowing that they had lived there. Their story is so sad. I am glad that he did find happiness with his fifth wife Kay. She really made his life happy after losing Carole.

So much has been said about Gable hating to go out and Lombard catering to his every whim. But could it have been that they just really enjoyed each other's company and wanted to be alone. If you get my drift. :) Sometimes we forget that superstars are people too.
